Poem -

Let the Rivers Flow

My mother was a Cherokee, my father was an American soldier
They came together in war and loved instead of hate
Where the horse of uniform reformed to the native man
Peace be humble, life be true, hunger for prosperity, hunger for dignity
Beauty in the eye of those who dared, longing for a life to spare
My hand touched her hand, my face touched his face, my feet walked the same
The waters river flow , we followed wherever it led
Our horses drank when thirsty, our bodies bathed from dust
Where the rivers flow we shall find peace
The spirits of evil have passed, now the angels path
We shall be two, we shall be many, that find we are one in the same
