Christmas Past
Some wistful longing

May you find peace and love
May your days be filled with the company of friends
People that truly care and are there for you
May you be a blessing and not a curse
Finding the path behind you better
Than when you first walked there
It is a path full of twists and turns
oF up hills and down hills
Of many smiles and many tears
Christmas times in the past
Filled with people no longer here
I find myself lost in reverie these days
Is it a sign of my age or the times?
It seems to me I have had to say goodbye
Too many times and way ahead of time
That heaven has to be a happy place
With all the great souls gathered up there
I do not think they all just mill about in
Aimless voids of space
I do think that on occasion a few gather
To celebrate and rejoice in their lives
As they did down here
Spreading such wondrous love and light
That their presence is so acutely felt
I can only presume to hope to be
Missed as much
I can only live my life as I can
Not worrying if It is good enough
Or not bad enough for the after life
I can only know what I believe
That I have faith in something more
That surely this life was not made
Such beauty and perfection
Such rarity and purpose
To only end in oblivion
I know the body must perish
It is a fact of nature and life
It is the way of the world
But there is more I swear
So when that time comes
I am looking up my loved dear ones
and wishing them Merry Christmas
and so glad we are all here

Interesting perspective. I love when poems alter from the path described as mainstream. Makes your work engaging and unique, whilst stunning to read. Peace and smiles. TFOTS
