Mirror

I look into the mirror, and all I see is me,
I hardly recognise the reflection, who else can it be?
Reflections should not lie, I remember myself younger,
And the bulge around my waist, I am not suffering from hunger.
Has my life just passed me by, I don't look in mirrors no more,
When I shave in front of one, I'm always trying to ignore,
The mirror holds all kinds of truths, some I'll be hiding from,
I remember telling myself I'm handsome, just before the prom.
Once I stared into it once, when I found my first grey hair,
Now I'm looking for brown ones, but clearly are not there,
Once a baby looking face, now I grab skin with my hand,
And once a pale faced little boy, now dark and wrinkly and tanned.
If I look away from my reflection, the memories fade away,
No physical proof haunting me, I'm not looking older today,
But when I want a reality check, the mirror is where I look,
In my head lies a thousand memories, one day they'll be in a book.
