The Moors

The silver light of the moon shines down
On glistening ice upon the ground
Tis the only light I see around
For darkness reigns in this place.
The gloomy trees stand bare like claws
No leaves to be seen just frost that never thaws
And a deadly silence fills the moors
A desolate embrace.
The frost bites down and clamps the scene
Into a beautiful view of serene
Silver hills and frozen lakes can be seen
In this tranquil and open space.
Where once the moors thrived
With the magic of life
And the mermaids would dive
In the rivers they’d chase.
The fairies would fly
And colour filled the sky
As they danced on by
With a smile on their face.
But now all is gone
Life’s no longer a song
But we knew all along
Time would eventually erase.
Now we’re frozen in time
Eternal winter entwined
This place that was mine
Now I live in disgrace.
In nothingness and void
Like a mindless android
All that beauty destroyed
And we’ve given up the chase.
