Virus

Virus

I think something has happened,
Happened to the world!
Everyone is acting different.
Reality has become blurred.

Have they caught a virus?
Are all the people sick?
Am I really intelligent?
Or is everybody thick!

Nobody has conversations.
Well, they do, but not face to face.
Does anyone make eye contact?
Where are the manners? Where’s the grace.

Real relationships get damaged,
Because they become second to the screen.
Where they chat to all of these “people”
Most of the time, they’re never seen.

You can’t “Cat fish” in real life.
You can’t pretend you’re someone you’re not.
Guess what? People still like you.
You don’t even have to prove you’re not a bot!

Imagine doing an activity,
And enjoying it for real.
Then not posting it on your news feed,
In between all the pictures of everyone’s last meal.

Imagine remembering the art of waiting.
Not wanting everything yesterday.
Imagine not needing to look at the internet,
To remember your best pals birthday.

Think about telling you friends and family,
Any news or just this and that.
Instead of it being seen first,
By your co-workers, neighbours, sisters cat!

Stop wanting something better.
Because you’ve seen it all online.
I can guarantee it’s not as rosy anyway.
As people post to their timeline.

Stop competing with those people,
Who aren’t even relevant to your life.
Stop trying to prove you’re happy and fun.
The perfect parent or housewife!

Just enjoy the world you’re in,
And the people who stick around.
Because you can’t go back and re-do it once you’re gone.
Plus, there’s no WiFi underground!
