Where the Hemlock Hides

I will keep breathing and smilingÂ
And joining in on all of the rides
Â
I will grin, and giggle and laugh
But I know where the hemlock hides
Â
I will lean into my highest highs
And overcome my lowest lows
Â
I will live for all those around me
But I know where the hemlock grows
Â
Chin up, chest out, move onward
Do as each happy face sweetly bides
Â
I will keep going no matter how I feel
But I will always know where the hemlock hides

I searched this out having read before in too much of a hurry to comment Twilla. I love this. Love the repeating lines of hemlock. The whole work speaks of staying out of duty not of want but always nursing a way out...just in case. I relate to you words and lobe the structure and style.
Powerful write x
This is touching... Yet sad... I hope that one day we can both forget where that door is.

This is really powerful. Dear Twilla, i don’t know what made you write this, but this is row, sad and incredible powerful, written in such way that makes want to say: No to the hemlock and be the child of the universe.Â
I'm am very very glad. I hope it helps you feel like you are not alone in anything, ever. Even our darkest thoughts and feelings are shared by someone, somewhere. And I am very glad it encouraged you to keep choosing life everyday. That means so much 🫶.
I have a passion for life, and I am a very fortunate and happy person, but I am aware that there is someone out there who knows pain and feels the dark side of life. I hope they know that there is always someone out there who cares. đź’—Â
When we write, we touch people’s hearts in different ways, that’s the beauty and the meaning of poetry.Â
